This is for you if you have ever had emotions, feelings, or experiences that you could not name. Psychology draws connections between the experience of racial oppression and mental health disorders. Racial oppression has been associated with symptoms of depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, and more (Sheehan et al., 2019).
Black people are inherently collectivistic which means that we exist as a network. Our tribe mindset is embedded in our DNA. Thus, while this organization is aiming to do a lot for our community-- we cannot do it all. Recommendations for Black literature, film, media, art, self- care, and therapeutic services will be made in order to maintain our spirits as we fight for liberation.
